The chapel Saint-Fridolin was a former chapel located in the territory of the commune of Haselbourg, France.
Generalities: The chapel is located in the Schacheneck valley, near the hamlet of Sparsbrod on the border of the Moselle and Bas-Rhin departments. It is located on the territory of the commune of Haselbourg, in the department of Moselle, in the Grand Est region of France. In ruins, the interest of the chapel rests on its medieval Baptistery.
History: In the sixth century, the Irish missionary Saint-Fridolin raised a small monastery and a small chapel, which he placed under the name of Saint Hilaire. In 1633, the chapel and the adjoining village were ruined by the Thirty Years' War. The ruins of the chapel are classified as historical monuments which were arrested on 6 December 1898.
Description: The old chapel would have been a single ship and a rectangular choir. There is nothing left of the chapel except its baptistery in monolithic pink sandstone of the 10th or 11th century.
