Hippodrome of Douai

The Douai Hippodrome is a circus building located in Douai. It was inaugurated in 1904 and served as a municipal circus. He also welcomed travelling cinematographers until 1907.

It was renovated in 1925 after a fire. Its dome uses a metal frame that was created for an attraction of the Universal Exhibition of 1900 in Paris. Its main room is a dodecagon of 35 meters in diameter.

It could once accommodate 2200 spectators. The building is neo-classical. It was listed as a Historic Monument in 1981.

Together with the Théâtre d'Arras, it hosts the "national scene" Tandem.
