About

Saint Martin Church is a parish Catholic church located in Hadancourt-le-Haut-Clocher, Oise, France. It is largely a result of reconstruction after the Hundred Years' War, and mostly Gothic style. The masonries of the nave, however, date back to the second quarter of the 12th century, indicating the Romanesque origins of the building, and the second span of the choir dates from the beginning of the 13th century, and displays the Gothic style.

The church of Saint Martin is one of the few buildings of the French Vexin that were equipped with a transept in the 16th century when they were previously lacking it. It is distinguished in particular by its plan, which shows a striking imbalance between the nave of the faithful and the eastern parts: the first has only two spans without bottoms, while the latter have a central vessel of three spans, the first two of which are accompanied by vaulted collaterals at the same height. The architecture of the bell tower belfry floor is neat, and its four gables are unusual north of Paris, but its height of 33 m is not as exceptional as the name suggests.
