église Saint-Vincent d'Hermes
Saint Vincent Church is a Catholic parish church located in Hermes, Oise department, France. Hermes is one of the oldest towns in Beauvais, and its church has one of the oldest naves in the department. It dates back partly to the 11th century, as indicated by the small cubic bellows of the southern wall.
This nave, however, lost its authenticity with the installation of a caissoned ceiling in 1722 and a partial reconstruction during the second half of the 19th century, which concerns the portals, the side windows, and the only side bottom, added to the flamboyant Gothic period north of the nave. But Saint Vincent's church was best known for its beautiful two-storey Romanesque bell tower. Built on an unstable ground and taken up as a work in the middle of the sixteenth century, it unfortunately collapsed in 1919, and took in its fall the first span of the choir and the northern side chapel.
In 1927, it was replaced by a modern bell tower sitting on the roof of the nave. The apse and the southern side chapel of the second quarter of the 16th century, which are carefully built and reflect in a way, are still unharmed.
