The chapel Saint-Julien is a Romanesque chapel in Miramas, France.
Location: The chapel of Saint-Julien, a former parish church, is located in the cemetery of Miramas-le-Vieux.
History: The castrum of Miramas-le-Vieux first belonged to the abbey of Saint-Victor in Marseilles, then was given to the abbey of Montmajour by the king of Provence Conrad I of Arles who kept it until the Revolution. The abbey of Montmajour had received donations from Adelaide de Bourgogne, sister of Conrad I of Arles or Conrad III of Burgundy, married to Otto I, Emperor of the Holy Empire. In March 1118 a controversy between Fouques, Archbishop of Aix, and Abbé de Montmajour ended following a series of disputes concerning the churches of Miramas. On April 7, 1123, Pope Calixte II prohibited the Archbishop of Aix from worrying the monks of Montmajour for the churches of Miramas. The possessions of the abbey of Montmajour at the castrum of Miramas are confirmed by Popes Urban II, Pascal II, Gélase II, then Eugene III, in 1152.
