Saint-Herbot Church is a Catholic parish church located in the hamlet of Saint-Herbot, on the territory of the commune of Plonévez-du-Faou in Finistère, France. It is located within a parish enclosure. Built at the legendary site of the hermitage of Saint Herbot, protector of horned beasts, it was a popular pilgrimage goal, which, together with the protection of the ducal family, made its prosperity.
Ruined during the Brittany War of Succession, it was rebuilt from 1389. Several redevelopment campaigns between the extreme end of the 15th century and the middle of the 16th century gave it a southern porch, a bell tower and an annex chapel dedicated to Saint Barbe. The construction of the late 14th century made it one of the last witnesses of the Pont-Croix school, with a nave with three carpented vessels, divided by arcades almost in the middle of the hang.
The southern porch and the bell tower, on the other hand, are inspired by the prestigious monuments of western Brittany of the 15th century: the cathedral of Quimper, the basilica of Folgoët in particular. The church also has the peculiarity of preserving its decor of the...
