alignement du Grand Resto
Kersolan's alignments, also known as Saint Cornély's soldiers or Grand Resto alignment, are three megalithic alignments located in Languidic, Morbihan, France.
Location: Menhirs are located about 600 m away from the hamlet of Penhoët, 700 m southwest of the hamlet of Kersolan and 800 m from the hamlet of Grand Resto.
History: The site is briefly mentioned for the first time in 1847 in the book Le Morbihan de Cayot-Delandre but the first detailed description of the site is due to Commander A. Martin in 1898. Martin describes three alignments: the northernmost one consists of 39 menhirs over a length of 217 m, of which only five are still standing, the central one consists of 71 blocks over a length of 260 m, of which a dozen still erect, the southernmost, cut by the road, stretches 35 m in length and has only 5 stones. Martin estimates that due to the scattered blocks in the vicinity and the destruction that had to occur the central alignment had to stretch for about 1 km. Martin searches at the foot of a few menhirs but without results. It also describes the discovery of a small megalithic chest...
