chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Pitié de Chaudes-Aigues
The Notre-Dame-de-Pitié Chapel is a chapel located in France in the commune of Chaudes-Aigues (Cantal), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
History: It is a pilgrimage chapel linked to the worship of a 15th century Pietà, once very frequented. The building was almost entirely rebuilt between 1840 and 1860.
Protection: The chapel is listed as historical monuments by order of 27 September 2006.
Description: The chapel presents a mixture of styles: Gothic for the dogive vaults and openings, classic for the bell tower-poor with a roof to the imperial and the triangular front gate. The interior is decorated with painted decorations and neo-Gothic woodwork, with vaults of the choir decorated with golden rinceaux on azure background. Glass windows complete the whole.
