Theater building
salle des Machines
The Salle des Machines, also known as the Théâtre des Tuileries, is a large and now extinct theatre built in 1660 in the Palais des Tuileries in Paris against the Marsan Pavilion. It was burned in 1871 during the Paris Commune and demolished in 1882 at the same time as the Palais des Tuileries. It is in reference to this room that the expressions "court side" (of the Louvre) and "garden side" (of the Tuileries) were created to refer to the right and left on a theatre stage.
