The Château de Portes is a castle from the beginning of the 11th century, located in the commune of Portes, in the Gard department, in the Occitanie region. The Château de Portes is located at the pass of the eponymous pass, 577 meters above sea level. He was watching the old road (or way) of Regordane, which the pilgrims of Saint-Gilles used on ten leagues.
Its strategic position offers a vast panorama of Mont Lozère in the Alps. It is listed as a historic monument in 1984 and has been made Ambassador of the Cevennes National Park, World Heritage of Humanity, since 2011.
