The church of Saint-Martin de Montmédy is the church of the parish of Saint-Martin located in the upper town of Montmédy. Montmédy is a small town in the north-east of France, Lorraine, in the department of Meuse and a few steps from the Franco-Belgian border. The parish of Saint-Martin is located in the upper town of Montmédy.

This part of the city, on its rocky piton, is surrounded by a fortified enclosure. These fortifications were owed to Charles Quint, who in 1545 wanted to make this place a base of resistance against the kingdom of France. Assieged, the city ended up going to the French in 1657.

Vauban then undertook defensive improvement in the second half of the seventeenth century, making the enclosure one of the most important in the northeast. It is then understood that the architecture inside the fortifications is largely military. From the top of its rock, Saint Martin's church and its two square towers are visible miles away.
