The chapel Notre-Dame d'Hermone (sometimes called Hermones) is a Roman Catholic chapel located in Haute-Savoie, in the commune of Vailly, at Mount Hermone. The building is the subject of a pilgrimage.
Geography: The chapel was built in honor of Notre-Dame de la Visitation near the summit of the Hermone mountain, in the territory of the commune of Vailly, in Haute-Savoie. It is installed on a rocky promontory called "Miribel".
A primitive chapel? === The presence of a primitive chapel in Hermonus refers us to the very etymology of the name. Indeed, "Hermone" would come from "Armonna", which in Savoyard dialect means "mountain of alms". Thus, a link can be established with the Chartreuse de Vallon. Established since 1138, the Chartreux monks have many lands throughout Chablais. And among all the goods they received as a gift, it is possible to store part of Mount Hermonus.
