The medieval castle of Pouancé is a communal castle located in the commune of Pouancé, in the department of Maine-et-Loire, on the western border of the former province of Anjou, facing Brittany. With the city's urban enclosure, some of which is still visible today, it covers an area of three hectares. It is sometimes called "second castle of Anjou" in terms of importance, just after the castle of Angers.

It is part of the Marches de Bretagne and is the pendant Angelvin of Châteaubriant castle. On a fortified site at least from the eleventh century, the present castle is built from the twelfth to the fifteenth century. Several times attended during the Hundred Years' War, it became a major fortress at the end of the 15th century, during the conflict between the Kingdom of France and the Duchy of Brittany.

The castle has been classified as historical monuments since 7 July 1926. He underwent 40 years of one-off excavations and renovations, notably between 1981 and 1996, with the support of volunteers from the Association Chantiers Histoire et Architecture Médiévales.
