château du Bois-Gélin
The Château de Bois-Geslin is a former seigneurial residence located in the town of Armaillé, in Haut-Anjou, Maine-et-Loire. Built in the 16th century by the new seigneur of Armaillé, Jacques de la Forest, the building was taken over in the 17th century and is listed as historical monuments for its house body, dovecote, wings of communes and facades and roofs of other communes, by order of 2 September 1991.
History: The land of Bois-Geslin belonged to the Armaillé family from the 14th century. During the 15th century, she moved there, leaving her old castle and building a new one. Jean d'Armaillé confesses to the lord of Pouancé in 1406 for the land of Bois-Geslin. In 1550, the Bois-Geslin became the seat of the seigneury of Armaillé. It was sold, with the seigneury, in 1570 to Jacques de la Forest, who took over the title of Armaillé. The castle and the fief still depend on Pouancé. At the end of the 17th century, the owners refurbish the north facade and pierce windows there. In the 20th century, the castle belonged to Louis de Broglie.
