château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard
The castle of Menthon and then Menthon-Saint-Bernard is an old fortified house of the 10th century renovated several times and restored in the 19th century in a neo-Gothic style, which stands on the commune of Menthon-Saint-Bernard in the department of Haute-Savoie in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The castle is visited from May to September; the visit is enhanced in summer by a troupe of actors who revive the past of the castle. Each year it hosts nearly 40,000 visitors.
It is possible to rent rooms for receptions, seminars and weddings of up to 120 people. The castle of Menthon would have inspired Walt Disney for his drawing of the castle of La Belle au Bois Dormant. Neuschwanstein Castle is also often cited as a source of inspiration.
The castle is listed as a historical monument by order of 21 February 1989.
