History: A guard of honour is constituted at the monastery of the Visitation of Bourg-en-Bresse to pray before the Sacred Heart according to the will of Sister Mary of the Sacred Heart Bernaud (1825-1903), religious of the Visitation, with restorative intentions. It is held by the arch-conferrery of the Sacred Heart. Bishop Labeuche, Bishop of Belley from 1906 to 1910, decided to raise a parish church in honour of the Sacred Heart in the new neighbourhood of Bel-Air, according to the wish expressed by his predecessor Bishop Soubiranne. A first temporary chapel (which will constitute the north wing of the future church) was built by the architect Claude Royer and opened to worship in 1883 pending the construction of the future church; It is designed according to the plans of the architect Claude Royer, according to drawings by the architect Franchet, in neo-Roman style with neo-Byzantine contributions.
