Bourg-en-Bresse Cathedral

The cocathedral Notre-Dame-de-l'Annonciation of Bourg-en-Bresse, long the only parish church of Burgiens after the suppression of the parish of Saint-Pierre, was from 1515 to 1534 the seat of the ephemeral diocese of Bourg. It was classified as historical monuments on December 21, 1914. It was erected as a cocathedral of the diocese of Belley-Ars in 1992 (a cocathedral is a religious building raised to the rank of cathedral while there is another in the diocese; for this diocese, it is the cathedral of Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Belley). Renovation of the roof, waterproofing, stained glass, clock and gold cross has been ongoing since 2024.
