The École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris (ENSBA), commonly known as Beaux-Arts de Paris, is a French art school founded in 1817. It is a national public institution of an administrative nature directly under the supervision of the State through the Ministry of Culture. She is part of the University of Paris Science and Literature. There were four fine arts: painting, sculpture and engraving, with architecture until 1968, when the Minister of Culture André Malraux created eight educational architectural units (UPA) spread throughout the country, in response to the crisis of academicism brought about by political conflicts. In doing so, he broke the unity of the disciplines of fine arts. Since then, the teaching units have been transformed into National Higher Schools of Architecture (ENSA).

History: The school is the distant heiress of the schools of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture which was founded in 1648 and of the Academy of Saint-Luc founded in 1391 and refounded in 1649, from the former medieval community of painters and image tailors. The premises...
