refuge du Parmelan
The Parmelan refuge or Camille Dunant refuge, in honour of a notable Sarde d'Annecy, is a mountain refuge located in France, in the Haute-Savoie department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is located on the Parmelan, more precisely on the edge of the cliff called the head of the Parmelan which is not its summit but the most popular point of view on Annecy. It is composed of a 45-seat guarded refuge open during the summer season, which also serves a restaurant and a drink, as well as a winter shelter, unguarded and open all year round.
The bivouac is allowed near the refuge. Due to its location on the mountain's summital plateau and the absence of a carrossable track, the living conditions at the refuge remain brief, particularly as regards the quantity of water available and the lack of some modern comfort. Refuelling is provided by helicopter from the hamlet of La Blonnière, in the commune of Dingy-Saint-Clair, whose territory covers part of Parmelan including the refuge.
