About

AkOatys is an aquatic park on the island of Réunion, French overseas department in the southwest Indian Ocean. Located in L'Étang-Salé les Bains, on the territory of the commune of L'Étang-Salé, it opened on 20 May 2007. The park is only open during school holidays (on Réunion Island) and public holidays.

History: The water park of Réunion Island opens in 2007 with 3 slides and a large children's pool. In 2008, akOatys grew for the first time with a deeper pool with a hot tub. In 2010, the leisure park announced the installation of 2 sensational slides called "Kamikaze" and "Freefall". In 2013, a new attraction unique to the island of Réunion arrived: the static wave of surfing. It is a machine that throws a continuous stream of water on an inclined surface, like a treadmill. It was designed by AFP in Belgium. This machine is the first installed in France.
