The Arboretum national des Barres is an arboretum located in Nogent-sur-Vernisson in the natural region of Gâtinais (the Loiret department in the Centre-Val de Loire region). Managed until the end of 2018 by the National Forestry Board, it has been labeled a remarkable garden.
The arboretum is located in the south-east of the commune of Nogent-sur-Vernisson, on departmental road 41 towards Châtillon-Coligny (7 km east). Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois is located on its eastern edge. Montargis is 19 km north, through RN 7 that passes less than 1 km west of the arboretum. Paris is 139 km north. Exit 18.1 "Varennes-Changy" of the A77 motorway is 6 km west by the D41. The nearest railway station is Nogent-sur-Vernisson.
The arboretum consists of three collections of trees and shrubs spread over 35 hectares. It is integrated into the Barres estate, a vast forest complex of nearly 380 hectares and gathers more than 2,600 species, with nearly 9,250 trees and shrubs.
