arboretum des Grandes Bruyères
The Arboretum des Grandes Bruyères or RNR 15 is an arboretum located in the Orléans forest, built in 1972. It is administratively located in the commune of Ingrannes, in the department of Loiret. It was declared a voluntary French nature reserve in 1979, covering an area of 25 hectares.
History: 1969: Purchase of land; 1972: Manual clearing work; 1984: Donation to "Arboretums de France"; 1991: Open to the public; 2004: Marking of the remarkable garden by the Ministry of Culture.
Voluntary nature reserve: The interest of the site led to a six-year voluntary nature reserve (VNR) classification in 1979. The "neighbourhood democracy" law of 27 February 2002 transforms NVRs into regional nature reserves (RNRs), which is the case for the Grandes Bruyères. Article 6 of Implementing Decree No. 2005-491 of 18 May 2005 states that "the classification in the RNR shall run until the expiry of the authorisation which was originally granted to the voluntary reserve". The RNR classification has therefore ended after six years since the last approval, probably in the early 2000s.
