The chapel is related to the Campo-Santo cemetery. It was built near the Cathedral of Perpignan in the 14th century between 1300 and 1330 and was financed mainly by private funds. It then became a classroom in the 15th century to return to a capitular hall in 1601. The walls of the cemetery and the chapel have been classified as historical monuments since 30 June 1910. The commune established the departmental archives there and in 1985 it returned to its function of worship.
