Notre-Dame de Verdelais Basilica is a 17th-century Catholic minor basilica located in the heart of Verdelais, a small town in the Gironde (France). A chapel built in the 11th century to house a statue of the Virgin Mary brought back from the Holy Land becomes a Marian pilgrimage site and is rebuilt several times. Always the place of popular pilgrimage of Catholics of New Aquitaine the church was elevated to the rank of minor basilica on July 31, 1924 by Pope Pius XI. It has been listed as historic monuments since 31 March 2000.
