Cave with prehistoric art
baume d'Oullins
The balm of Oullins or balm of Oulen is a prehistoric cave, discovered in 1896 by Dr.Paul Raymond. It is located on the left bank of the gorges of the Ardèche on the municipalities of Labastide-de-Virac (Ardèche) and Le Garn (Gard). The cavity that opens facing the north by a large porch (50 m wide by 15 m high) at 220 m altitude consists of an entrance hall with parietal engravings and a deeper room discovered after disobedience that includes engravings and parietal paintings. The cave is included in the perimeter of the National Nature Reserve of the gorges of the Ardèche and dominates the river of about 160 m.
