Cité de la Préhistoire

The Cité de la Préhistoire is located in the commune of Orgnac-l'Aven in the Ardèche, on the site of the Aven d'Orgnac recognized by the label Grand Site de France. Founded in 1988, the establishment has the French museum label.

From May 15 to November 15, 2008 the exhibition "Prehistory of comics and cartoons" showed the works of Marc Azema: uniting the eye of the prehistorian specialized in prehistoric art and that of the director, the latter sees in the superpositions and juxtapositions of images, frequent in the art of Paleolithic, the creation of animated images on the same principle as the modern techniques of films. Azema also showed the 3D digitisation work that has been developing over the last ten years (first essays around 2005) in the world of archaeology; This exhibition was also shown in April-November 2009 at the Centre de préhistoire du Pech Merle de Cabrerets (Lot).
