Roman amphitheatre
amphithéâtre de Saint-Georges-du-Bois
The amphitheatre of Saint-Georges-du-Bois is a Gallo-Roman show building built in Saint-Georges-du-Bois, in the French department of Charente-Maritime. Its construction, according to an atypical plan, began in the middle of the 1st century AD and it was established that it had experienced two successive states. This small amphitheatre discovered in the mid-1970s seems to have served only for about a century. An ancient agglomeration, undoubtedly important but whose location remains unknown, certainly exists nearby.
