About

The Cathedral of Saint-Gervais and Saint-Protais de Lectoure is the main religious building in the municipality of Lectoure in the Gers department. It is dedicated to Saint Gervais and Saint Protais. The cathedral was the seat of the ancient diocese of Lectoure (a bishopric mentioned since 506) until 29 November 1801, when Pope Pius VII established the bubble that links the territory of the diocese of Lectoure to that of the diocese of Auch.

St Mary's Cathedral in Auch then became the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Auch, where the bishop sits. Since 1801, the cathedral has become the parish church of Saint-Gervais and Saint-Protais. It was classified as a historic monument in 1897 and the cathedral was classified by an order in 1912.
