About

The origin of the chapel dates back to the 12th century when it was built, in 1152, by the lords of Montfort when they lived at the Château de Boutavent. But in the 18th century, the chapel was abandoned by the religious of Montfort, and it was for this reason that it was mainly the inhabitants who continued to maintain the chapel. In 1833, the present religious building was built in place of the old chapel.

Chapelle Saint-Barthélémy d'Iffendic

One story tells that in the fourth century, Bishop Martin de Tours was passing through the region, laid his foot on a stone and that the trace of his step was made there forever; It is therefore "the Pas de Saint-Martin". The Saint Martin stone was the place of several pilgrimages, which started from the chapel Saint Barthélémy.
