chapelle de Languidou
Languidou Chapel is located in the municipality of Plovan, Brittany. From an administrative point of view, it is in the department of Finistère, district of Quimper. From an ethnographic point of view, she is in the Bigouden country, in Lower Cornuaille (former diocese of Quimper, or bishopric of Cornwall).
Today in ruins, this chapel of the middle of the thirteenth century retains charm and beauty. It also has its place in the history of art, as it is perhaps the founding building of the so-called architectural style of the Pont-Croix School. It is in rivalry for this title with the collegiate Notre-Dame de Roscudon in Pont-Croix: because of the impossibility to date them with sufficient precision, we cannot know which of the two buildings is the prototype of the style.
