Chapel
chapelle de Saint-Trèche
The chapel of Saint-Trèche is a site consisting of a cave, the famous merovingian wall of an old monastery and a chapel attested in the 15th century; site of pilgrimage in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. As early as 1916 the chapel was restored and transformed into a place of memory of the First World War, especially for the dead of the commune of Saint-Jean-sur-Mayenne; the precocity of this memorial and the specific character of the place attract early gifts, devotions and pilgrimages. On the edge of the D162, it is located on a promontory overlooking the Ernée at the entrance of the village of Saint-Jean-sur-Mayenne in Mayenne.
