The Château Saint-Sixte is a castle built in the 12th century on the edge of the Nied in Freistroff, France.
History: Located on a plain between Freistroff and Rémelfang, the castle Saint-Sixte was built in the 12th century by Lord Wirich of Valcourt. It was redesigned in the 16th century to become a residence in the 18th century. The castle of Freistroff was the seat of a winery from which six others belonged. The castle was saved from the ruin by the Gehl family in 1986, which bought it and its estate. 3 of their sons undertake restoration and conservation work of the castle. In 2007, Philippe Gehl bought the castle from his two brothers and started a vast restoration plan with the help of his family and an association involved in the restoration. It has been classified as historic monuments since November 1991. Since 2007, Saint-Sixte Castle has been saved from ruin thanks to numerous restoration works that take place every year.
