The castle of Germany-en-Provence is located in the territory of the French commune of Germany-en-Provence, in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.
Location: The castle is built near Colostre, a tributary of Verdon in the commune of Germany-en-Provence, in the French department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
History: Possessions of the Barons of Castellane, the latter cut off, in the middle of the thirteenth century, behind the enclosure of five towers, now disappeared, after they were driven out of their fief, following their support of the Marseille revolts. The castle of Germany-en-Provence was built by François de Castellane and completed by his son Melchior de Castellane at the beginning of the 15th century. The building was raised from a former dungeon, attested in 1380. In 1586, Jeanne de Grasse resisted for 16 days against the leaguers, waiting for a Protestant rescue army led by her husband Baron Nicolas du Mas de Castellane, who was killed by a musket fire, while he joined the castle, after the battle.
