Château de Chalmazel

Chalmazel Castle is located in the town of Chalmazel, whose medieval name was Saint-Jehan-des-Neiges, in the Forez Mountains, between the towns of Saint-Étienne and Thiers, France. It dominates the Lignon valley and was built to be an inexpugable fortress according to the wishes of the Count of Forez. The lords were the Marcilly, then their heirs and descendants, the Talaru.
