château de Laprée
The Château de Laprée is a 18th and 19th century castle located in Quiestède, Pas-de-Calais. Since 1669, the land of Laprée has never been sold and passed on to the family of Lencquesaing, almost always from father to eldest son. Originally from Hainaut, the Lencquesaing moved to Aire, in the Spanish Artois, at the beginning of the 17th century, where they had long held the office of receiver of the estates before obtaining that of the Artois aids.
Several ancestors were mayors of Aire. The rich archives of the Lencquesaing family, preserved mainly at the Château de Laprée (but also in the Clouet des Pesruches fonds at the Archives départementales du Pas-de-Calais) formed the subject of a study on the representations and self-image of a noble family in Artois under the Ancien Régime.
