Château de Saint-Alban

The Château de Saint-Alban is a castle located in Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole in Lozère. He is on the way to Via Podiensis, one of the paths of the pilgrimage of Santiago de Compostela. Former property of the Barons of Apchier, then of the Barons of Molette de Morangiès, it has been used since 1824 as a psychiatric center.

The castle has been classified as historical monuments since 11 July 1942. Various parts of the psychiatric hospital are registered by decree of 26 January 2023: the facades and roofs of the former administration building, the chapel Saint-Pierre, the facades and roofs of the former community building that adjoins the chapel and the cemetery of the madmen. The Saint-Pierre chapel, including its access gallery, is classified by order of 30 May 2024.
