About

The château de Trévoux is a former castle of the late 13th or early 14th century, renovated in the 1360s, abandoned in 1563 and restored in the 1990s, the remains of which stand on the commune of Trévoux in the department of Ain, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The castle was the center of the seigneury of Trévoux and the capital of a castle of Dombes. The remains of the castle are classified as historical monuments by order of 13 June 1913. Built in two main campaigns in the 14th century, it was abandoned two centuries later by having not undergone any significant modification: it is therefore an exceptional witness to the seigneurial architecture of the late Middle Ages.
