Château de La Clayette

Château de La Clayette is located in the commune of La Clayette en Brionnais, in the department of Saône-et-Loire in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

Description: Surrounded by water, the medieval castle occupies an irregular rectangular platform. The commons consist of two parallel buildings each with an overhanging angle turret. In the centre of the north building rises a square tower, with a stair turret. The southern building is flanked by a round tower, the Paray tower, which is supported by a circular staircase turret. The eastern part of the enclosure, the most recent, consists of a body of rectangular houses accosted to a large square tower. To the south of the house, the round road has been converted into a gallery. In return for square, buildings of the eighteenth century remain: another house body and in the same alignment, a pavilion. To the east, a carriageway that runs along the facades connects the castle to a fortified door, consisting of a square tower pierced by a carriageway door.
