Archaeological site
Epomanduodurum was a secondary Gallo-Roman agglomeration, which today corresponds to the city of Mandeure (Doubs). In Roman times, Epomanduodurum was one of the major urban centres of the Higher Germany. Built on a crossing of roads, the city has its peak in the first century.
The remains of this period, the most visible of which is the ancient theatre, bear witness to the importance and complexity of the ancient site. The various excavation campaigns carried out since the 16th century have revealed important remains, some of which date back to the Gaulish period and show the presence of man without interruption since that time.
