fontaine Desaix
Desaix Fountain is a fountain erected in honour of General Louis Charles Antoine Desaix (1768-1800). It is the work of architect Charles Percier. Located in Paris, on the Place de Thionville in 1803, it was dismantled in 1874 and transferred – largely – to Riom in 1906.
The Desaix de Percier fountain is now one of three riomoise fountains dedicated to Desaix. According to Jacques Hillairet, this fountain would be the first monument erected in Paris to honour a person who was not a monarch.
