forges d'Hennebont
The Forges d'Hennebont is a former steel factory located in Inzinzac-Lochrist (Morbihan). Located on the edge of the Blavet, about 20 kilometers from Lorient, the municipality of Inzinzac-Lochrist owes its extension to the forges of Kerglaw and Lochrist known as Forges d'Hennebont. To meet the growing needs of southern Brittany's vegetable and fish canneries, the Trottier brothers saw the creation of a metallurgical plant on the town of Inzinzac-Lochrist in 1860.
It belonged successively to the Trottier brothers (from 1861 to 1880), the Compagnie des Cirages Français (from 1880 to 1937), the Société des Forges d'Hennebont et des Dunes (Firminy Group) (from 1937 to 1949) and finally to the Société "Forges d'Hennebont" (from 1949 to 1966). The former forge laboratory currently houses the Forges ecomuseum.
