About

The Roques-Hautes deposit is a deposit of dinosaur eggs, located close to Montagne Sainte-Victoire in the commune of Beaurecueil, in the formation of reptile sandstones. It was discovered in 1952 by Raymond Dughi and François Sirugue, curator and deputy curator of the Museum of Natural History of Aix-en-Provence. It dates from the Upper Cretaceous.

The wealth of this deposit led to the decree of 21 February 1964 classifying 140 hectares. The site is now included in the Sainte-Victoire National Nature Reserve. The site is forbidden to the public.
