The castle of Dinan is a former castle of the 14th century, having replaced an ancient fortress, rebuilt several times, located in the French commune of Dinan in the department of Côtes-d'Armor, in Brittany. The castle is classified as historical monuments by order of 12 July 1886.

Location: The castle of Dinan is located to the south of the city, in the French department of Côtes-d'Armor.

Castral motte: The present castle, erected in the 14th century, replaces a first castral motte, called "old chastel" or "Châteauganne", built in the 11th century. Its presumed location is a promontory north-east of the city, which is outside the current enclosure. It was destroyed around 1170. Today only the name remains: the residence of the sub-prefect, located on this promontory, is in fact still called Château-Ganne. In 1064, the Duke of Normandy Guillaume led an expedition against Brittany, in which Harold Godwinson was actively involved, who would then be his opponent in the Battle of Hastings.
