About

The Dinan Museum is a municipal museum of art and history with the name Musée de France. Founded in 1843 from the personal collection of the Italian scholar Luigi Odorici, it brings together collections of various natures: archaeological collection, collection of sculptures and paintings, extra-European ethnography collection, local ethnography collection, collection of specimens of natural history. When it was founded, it was installed on the ground floor of the town hall of Dinan, then transferred to the castle of Dinan in 1908.

The collections of the museum of Dinan are exhibited at the castle of Dinan for more than a century, until in 2015 the two entities are dissociated. Since 2015, the Dinan Museum has been on standby, its collections have been placed in reserve. The scientific and cultural project of a new museum is being developed.
