The Jardin des Plantes is a public garden in Toulouse, the capital of the Occitanie region, in the Midi de la France. It was a plant garden and it retained its name but not its status. Together with the Grand Rond and the Jardin Royal, it is part of a set of three public gardens built during the 18th and 19th centuries south-east of downtown Toulouse. It is owned by the municipality and managed by the Green Spaces department of the city.
Situation and access: The Jardin des Plantes is located southeast of the city centre, in the historic district of Busca, which belongs to District 5. It extends over seven hectares and has the shape of an irregular triangle limited by the Serge-Ravanel driveway to the east, Alfred-Duméril street to the west, and buildings bordering the Jules-Guesde driveways to the north. Six entrances or "doors" give access to Jardin des Plantes:
