About

MABA is an exhibition venue designed to support and disseminate contemporary creation, created in March 2006 by the Fondation des Artistes (formerly the National Foundation for Graphic and Plastic Arts). It bears the name of the first director of the foundation, Bernard Anthonioz (1921-1994), at the origin of the artistic creation policy of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of André Malraux.

Location and history: The MABA is located in Nogent-sur-Marne, in the Val-de-Marne department, where the Fondation des Artistes has an original complex consisting of the Maison nationale des artistes and two active artists' cities, about 100 creators present on the site. The creation of the MABA was made possible by the redevelopment of the National Artists' House, which left the entire ground floor of Smith-Champion Castle at 16 Charles-VII Street vacant. Located in this 17th-century building, the MABA offers since its dominant position, a "Picturesque" viewpoint on the surrounding territory.
