The Albert-Louppe Bridge, first called the Plougastel Bridge and again known as the first Plougastel Bridge, is a bridge crossing the mouth of Elorn in the Brest Rade to connect the communes of Plougastel-Daoulas to the Relecq-Kerhuon. Its construction, decided on 22 September 1922 and authorized by a law of 2 July 1924, took place between 1926 and 1930. The contract signed between the Conseil Général and the Limousin company provided that it would only be paid if the formwork of the three spans was completed.
The entrepreneur and Eugène Freyssinet, confident in their innovative methods, have therefore pre-financed the construction of the structure at their own risk, which can be seen as a prefiguration of PPP contracts and Design-Construction contracts. Eugène Freyssinet, by this and many others (aeronautical hangars in the Bourget for example) was the forerunner of prestressing and of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures. In 1994, it was doubled, to fluidize traffic, by the bridge of the Iroise which was almost parallel to it.
