About

The expiatory monument of Lorient, called the Cross of Truth or the Cross of La Perrière, is a monument inscribed as a historical monument located in Lorient in the district of Kergroise, in the Morbihan in France, and is one of the four listed monuments of the city. It was raised in the 18th century at the place where cibories stolen by a Genoese sailor were found. It was destroyed at the beginning of the twentieth century by the municipality in a context of opposition from the Church to the state, and then relocated to its original location following a series of trials between the landowner and the city. It is slightly curved pyramidal shape, with cut edges, and surmounted by a cross.
