The museum founded in 1835 is mainly dedicated to archaeology, fine arts and non-European ethnography (Africa, Oceania). It presents, over 2,000 m2 of permanent exhibitions, one tenth of the 45,000 works that the museum possesses, attached to the remains of the human occupation in Périgord, to local, French and European artistic creation.
