musée de Tautavel - Centre européen de préhistoire
The Tautavel Museum - European Centre for Prehistory is a museum located in Tautavel, in the French department of the Pyrénées-Orientales. It is dedicated to Prehistory and in particular to the discoveries made at the Caune de l'Arago located in the same municipality, including the Man of Tautavel. The Museum is known for the richness of its collections, but also for the cultural offer offered.
Every year temporary exhibitions enrich the permanent journey. During the school holidays workshops on prehistoric techniques are offered to the public, as well as many other animations. The Tautavel Museum is part of the CEPC CEPP in Tautavel (Public Institution for Cultural Cooperation) which also includes the European Centre for Prehistoric Research, most of which work within the UMR 7194 HNHP (Natural History of Prehistoric Humanities) which has the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN) and the University of Perpignan Via Domitia (UPVD).
